Memorizing techniques – Mnemonic Table #2
This is second post about this technique: Memorization Techniques – #2 Key words and links concept. Create your first memory table.… and from today there will be one post a day so in eleven days the technique will be complete. If you will learn with me then memorizing ten new elements a day will be a piece of cake. Why this table is something truly mad?
Let me tell you – one day I’ve posted an entry about tips on how to learn fast with link to my site on reddit.com and I asked for any advcies or tips. What I got back from one of the users was complete bashing for spelling errors and an advice to educate myself better before I post stuff about fast learning. Mea culpa… English is not my native language and sometimes I write posts at really crazy times – if you read it at 10 pm it means that I published it at 5 am. Anyway in my response to this guy i told him that i can easily remember 30 dates with time, day and what exactly happened in under 10 minutes and I asked is he educated to that level? Well… I never got any response from him – i guess he wasn’t. But that gives you an image or vision of what you can do using one of memorization techniques – the mnemonic table!
If you haven’t read the first post… well go for it as there is first 10 positions of our table in there! You may do that later – that doesn’t matter
I will just say that we will create now positions from 11 to 20.
Ten things to rememeber: bottle of water, growing plant, bad napoleon, olive’s oil, table, window, call from aunt, elephant, a pair of old socks, cup of coffe.
Mnemonic Memorization [11-20]
11. Eleven – Raven
Even if thhis rhyme is not so fantastic… see a black, giant raven carrying a bottle of water and selling it to other animals ; ]
12. Twelve – Elf
Imagine an elfic creature taking care and giving water to a plant, remember: it can be water brought to him by the raven. Elf adds some weird powder and plant instantly grows and cover all the place (i.e. his wooden house). See this happening in your imagination.
13. Thirteen – My Team
You had any team? If no imagine one you would like to have or you would like to play in, can be a group of friends with same thsirt (MT – MY TEAM). Anyway imagine them setting a trap for very bad Napoleon (and see this guy with malicious smile, thinking that he gonna find them but not knowing that he goes directly intro trap…. muahahahahaha!)
14. Fourteen – Fort Tea
See this great fortress and all the soldiers drinking tea, see the big herb and fields of tea growing around. Feel the aroma of this great drink… but hey! what the hell they do?!!! they put olive’s oil in tea?! this is madness!
15. Fifteen – Mighy Queen
Imagine mighty queen… you know, a strong woman. See her showing off her power by kicking tables and crushing them on the wall!
16. Sixteen – Humble Gin
See a proper gin – the “guy” that makes wishes come true… because of recesion in believers he’s cleaning windows at McDonald’s!
17. Seventeen – Lion Win
A mighty lion just won a fight… yet he gets truly childish and scared when he finds a phone and hear his (your!) aunt calling him and asking why the hell he left tracks of blood on her new carpet?!
18. Eighteen – Dog is clean
Dog is clean… but the elephant no and that’s why Eighthus (what a name for a dog!) decides to get on the big animal and slide down from his back getting into big, dirty muld. Imagine him smiling and happy after this fun!
19. Nineteen – Halloween Bean
Our hero is super scary… yet he runs extremely quickly (at least as for a vegetable) when two scary, smelly old socks attacks him out of nowhere!
20. Twenty – Vincent has Plenty
You like coffe? So… Vincent simply loves it! In a matter of a fact he has a collection of cups. In the morning he fills up all of them and then start drinking! You see? He’s quite like me!
I’ve made some simple assosciations to give you idea how it works – the more crazy they are the better! Learn the number – key word connection and put on it whatever you want. I can just say to you that when we’re finish with all 100 positions we will create a simple extension to make this table one thousand places (chill out – we’re gonna use adjectives) and then we will learn how to use it for memorizing dates easily and pernamently. Sounds like fun? So practice this one! You can also check out memory tricks, there’s a chain method technique tha can help you remember the elements of table easily
Well… write to you tomorow, take care of your brain!

It seems to me that some of the mnemonics are more difficult to remember than the word itself

Hey Anton!
Honestly mnemonic table are quite easy to USE. 10 to 100 elements remembered very good. for proficent use they require to be a “sure” places in your memory. What they sort out for you in a process of remembering is that one position to which you can always quickly attach something. It is possible and quite easy to learn with it 30 dates in 30 minutes. And “they are there”… are you on egsam, stressed or chilled dates and what happened is there because you coded it with your imaination. It is possible to go much faster… learning my first mnemonic table took about a month of time (4h of course each week), yet after i was doing much better than 30 dates per hour. If you ask me then I’d say this skill should be learned in first grade of primary school – would make life of students easier…
