Feel that you need some creative solution for your problem? Or maybe you’re one of these person who prefer to have greater creativity to have more options for solving their projects. As you’ve may have noticed instead of writing problems I’ve used “projects” term. This is our first step to improve creative skills of our minds. A problem without solution is no longer one… and the one that have solution is simply a project. This can help us to brake out from mental frame and find much more ways of dealing with the situation.
Another step on our way to greater creativity is realizing that it is a proper mind skill and that means that we can train it and with consistency in our doings result in gaining a significant growth of it which will show up on many levels – from drawings to truly crazy ideas. So how we can improve it, which practices to make and where to direct our efforts? Let’s make a short list so later we have a general image before going into details
Developing Creativity List
- Affirmations
- Music
- Drawing practices
- Using mind maps
As long as these things are definitely not everything you can do to improve your creativity they’re enough to give it an outstanding boost! Getting deeper into details…
Affirmations
There are good ones and bad ones. Example of extremely bad ones, blocking your creativity:
> “it’s so hard for me to come up with new idea”,
> “i’ll never find solution for this”,
> “developing creativity gets easier every single day”,
> “this makes me tired” etc. etc.
As affirmations can and are topic for a big-big article basically anything you repeat to yourself over and over again can be called affirmation so start being conscious about what you say to yourself. Pretty often parents have bad habit of saying not so nice stuff to their children. You know the saying that “Even a lie repeated one thousand times become true” ? It could be used as a definition in this case. Instead of concentrating on bad stuff (sorry for label but i what else i can say about “wrong” sentences) let’s take a look at something that actually will help you with your skill:
> “My creativity is growing each day”,
> “My mind unleash more and more of my inner creative powers”,
> “I come up with new, exciting solutions and ideas all the time”,
> “Whenever I blink my eyes I know i’ve just improved my creativity”.
Over saturated? It’s up to you to decide, but best and most simply come up with your idea! Just remember that it should be formed in positive sentence so “My hair grows faster” instead of “My hair don’t grow slow”!
Music
Specifically classical – please take a look at article about effects of music on the brain and how does music affect the brain. Besides this kind of music there’s a lot of products, hypnotic inductions and much, much more products that are great helper in process of developing creativity.
Drawing exercises
As painting and drawing are definitely practices that not only requires inspiration but also gives it. Here’s one of the simplest thing you can do:
1. Draw a square a small square,
2. Draw another one with wings on each side,
3. Draw another one with different wings,
4. Do 10 different versions.
or
1. Draw a big circle.
2. Put inside three triangles
3. Make ten copies of it with different lines creating those triangles.
Got it? One basic idea and 10 versions of it. Do that each day and your creativity will simply explode.
Mind Maps
These are topic for a big-big… big article yet i’ll keep it short and put some link later on. Mind Mapping is concept of note taking that represents the way information are stored in our brains created by Tony Buzan and his brother in eighties and it’s development is continued till today. In the middle of map there’s your idea (best with 3 colours), from the center you put few thick organic lines on which you can store main “keywords” that are connected with your idea and from there you go on with thoughts about the topic. Using mind maps is amazing way to improve creativity and organize your projects!
In coming days I’ll add some links that should be helpful and meanwhile give your curiosity a reward by doing a proper research on the ideas i’ve posted above as asking question and seeking for answers is another truly great way to grow your creative potential!
